2020 Annual Election for the Alaska Public Health Association


The nomination period has been extended to October 30, 2020

The Alaska Public Health Association’s (ALPHA) mission is to engage Alaskans in public health. Service on the Board of Directors is an excellent opportunity for public health leaders to connect and inform traditional and non-traditional members of the public health community and promote public health actions that are based on the best scientific information available.

It is the desire of the Board and ALPHA as an organization to promote diversity on the Board and to best represent the membership at large geographically, by discipline, and by public health interests.

The following ALPHA Board Nomination Form 2020 and information requested must be received by Friday Oct 30, 2020

The Call for Nominations includes the following positions:

  • The President-Elect serves three In 2021, they will serve on the executive committee and assist with the planning of the Alaska Health Summit, followed by serving as President in 2022. In 2023, as Past President, they will have the distinguished honor of serving as the Chair for the Alaska Health Summit Planning Committee.
  •  The Affiliate Representative to the Governing Council of the American Public Health Association (APHA) serves three years. The Affiliate Representative serves as the connection between ALPHA and APHA. This position must be a member of both ALPHA and APHA.
  • Board Members serve three There are four (4) Board seats open for election. The Board Member commitment includes attendance at regular board meetings (in person or via teleconference, an average of 8-10 per year), attendance at the annual planning retreat in the Spring (travel funds are available), and a willingness to serve on at least one committee.

 All nominees for the 2020 Election must submit a brief statement of their public health experience and interest in serving on the ALPHA Board, a resume or curriculum vitae, and names and contact information of 2 references who are familiar with their work in public health.  All nominees must be ALPHA members – new members welcome!
